Roulette

Roulette involves a big wheel, a white ball and the player’s bets. It’s a simple game, but by far one of the most exciting. Players have the opportunity to place their bets on a single number or on different numbers, as well as on odd or even numbers. Players can also bet on the colours red or black. As you can see there are many betting options available in roulette, which makes the game quite unique.

Once all the bets have been placed, the dealer or croupier will spin the roulette wheel and as it starts to slow down, a little white ball will eventually settle and the winning number and colour is determined.

Roulette was played much the same way as it’s played today, in 1796 Paris and was called La Roulette. The game went through various changes such as the colours of the zeros. It was only during the start of the 1800’s that the colour green was chosen for the zeros in the roulette wheel, to avoid any confusion. It was only in the 19th century that roulette spread throughout Europe and the USA. It was such a popular game that when Germany made gambling illegal, the Blanc family moved their entire household to Monte Carlo, where the last legal casino was situated.

Since then, roulette has always been associated with royalty and glamour. It was in Monte Carlo where the single zero roulette wheel began and from there made its way to the USA via the Mississippi. The wheel had previously been placed on the floor, but due to cheating, the roulette wheel was then placed on top of the table and has remained there ever since.
