Craps

In Craps, a set of dice are used throughout the game. Players place their bets on the outcome of a series of rolls. Players have the option to either bet against other players or bet against the dealer. When players choose to wager against one another, it is known as street craps. Street crap is an informal variant of the game that can be played in casinos and on the street.

Bank craps is another way to play this popular casino game and it requires multiple players to bet against the casino and each player will have a turn to roll the dice and become known as the shooter. Betting is a little more difficult than the other casino games – players put their bets (casino chips) in the required sections for bets that are depicted on the table. Feel free to ask the dealer if the bets you are placing are allowed, as some bets may only be placed during certain stages of the round.

The most important thing you need to know about craps is the pass line and the don’t pass line. These are two specific bets, wager on the outcome of the whole round.

Craps was originally called hazard dating back to the Crusades. Hazard was later influenced by the French and brought to America by rich Louisiana landlords. John H Winn introduced the don’t pass line to cover-up a flaw in the game which allowed players to exploit the opportunity of using fixed dice and influencing bets.
